We spend the time doing a personal treatment plan and make sure you understand every stage in creating your new denture. In most cases we can try your new denture in to check the feel and look and make sure it’s “you” and if needed make any adjustments, before your new dentures are finished.
A partial denture is a removable denture which replaces one or more missing natural teeth. It is supported by the natural remaining teeth, bone and tissue. It replaces what is lost teeth and may help preserve the teeth that are left.
Partial dentures come in three types - an acrylic or plastic base with teeth attached, a metal base or metal framework with the teeth attached and a flexible nylon base with the teeth attached. All have their advantages and disadvantages . The type best suited to your particular requirements can be discussed in your first appointment with us.
A partial denture can offer improved appearance and function and may help maintain the remaining natural teeth. It also may improve and restore your appearance and helps with speech and the ability to chew your food.
Wearing a partial denture can help spread the forces and pressure between your natural teeth and the denture teeth when you are eating and plays a large part in reducing the wear and the pressure on your natural teeth.
By wearing a partial denture when you also wear a full denture on the opposite jaw can help in the full denture being more stable during function. This is due to the better balance and distribution of all the forces involved in chewing, swallowing and speaking.
